Or can it go on any positive fuse terminal on the fuse box? The Victron SmartShunt is a powerful battery monitor with Bluetooth on board. While I am not sure what a smart shunt gets you as opposed to an old stupid shunt, I would never again try to live on batteries without a real battery monitor installed. 3.3) Does the Battery Monitor Come with a Shunt 3.4) Does the Monitor Offer Alerts and Event Triggers 3. 3) Connect the red connector from the shunt to the positive of the battery or if wiring batteries in series, to the positive of the first battery in the series. Presumably the positive wire for the monitor has to attach to the fuse box main positive terminal (which the battery positive connects to). Posts 914 Location SE - Mich Sue&Geo, A smart shunt is part of a Victron battery monitor. ![]() Does the positive wire for the monitor then go on the fuse box main positive terminal, the fuse that the SCC positive connects to, or any one of the fused positive terminals? I suspect it has to go on the same fuse positive terminal that comes from the SCC in order to “see” that current.įor Battery Discharge, I believe the shunt goes between the Battery negative and the Fuse Box main negative terminal. My best guess is…įor Solar Output, I believe the shunt goes between the Solar Charge Controller battery negative output and Fuse Box main negative terminal. What I’m unsure about is where to actually connect the red (+) and blue (-) wires for the monitor and shunt. I’d like to use one to measure solar output and the second to measure battery discharge. Have 2 shunts (the ones listed in the blueprints from Amazon). I’m stuck on where to attach the wires for the shunt/battery monitor. I’m working on the building out the Minimalist setup which is also my first solar project. ![]()
